260321 Drypoint/ Koldnål Printmaking with Milton Mondal

Drypoint/ Koldnål Printmaking Weekend Course with Milton Mondal Time: Weekend course, 10:00–12:00 (2 hours) Duration: 2 days Price: 2500 NOK Dates: 21-22 March, The course instructions are in English All the materials are included in the course fee This weekend course o?ers a gentle and engaging introduction to drypoint printmaking, led by visual artist and printmaker Milton Mondal. Drypoint is a traditional intaglio technique where the image is engraved directly into a plate and then printed on paper using a press. The result is a rich, soft line with great depth and atmosphere. The course is completely non-toxic and suitable for both beginners and those who already have some experience and wish to explore the medium further. Drypoint has been used by artists for centuries, from Rembrandt to Edvard Munch and David Hockney, and remains a living and evolving technique in contemporary art. During the workshop, you will work through the process step by step. You will begin by learning how the materials behave and how mark-making on the plate translates into printed line. From there you will prepare andengrave your own plate, ink and wipe it, and print it on a professional press. Along the way, you will be supported in making thoughtful choices about image development, tone, line quality and expression, so that you not only learn the technical process, but also how this technique can support your artistic thinking and creativity. The course places emphasis on calm working atmosphere, exploration and reflection. With only four participants, there is time for individual guidance, conversation and feedback. You are encouraged to ask questions, experiment and learn at your own pace. The workshop environment is welcoming and supportive, making it an ideal opportunity to try printmaking for the first time or to deepen your practice in a new direction. All materials and tools are included in the course fee. You will be provided with copper plates, professional high-quality tools, printmaking paper, inks, and use of the printing press, as well as instruction throughout the session. No previous experience is needed, and the course is open to anyone with curiosity and interest in visual expression.
